Traffic control worker injured in hit and run

West Kelowna RCMP are looking for witnesses in a hit and run at a construction zone on Westside Road Monday morning.

Police say the driver of a white commercial Ford truck got into a confrontation with a traffic control worker. When he was not allowed to pass through, he allegedly began threatening the flagger, before passing through, despite the flagger’s instructions. This caused the truck to knock the stop sign out of the flagger’s hand and injure her wrist.

After briefly pulling over, the driver began arguing with the flagger’s co-workers, who asked him to stay at the scene. Instead, he got back into his vehicle and drove off.

"RCMP are following up with the company which owns the suspect vehicle in an effort to positively identify the driver and further their still ongoing investigation," says Corporal Tania Carroll.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.

Police are also looking for one witness in particular who reportedly got footage of the incident from a dash cam.
