Updated: Police recover body from Mission Creek
Kelowna RCMP say the death of a man, whose body was discovered at Mission Creek earlier today, has been determined to be not suspicious.
Police and emergency services received a report of an unresponsive male in the creek near Springfield Rd. east of Dilworth Dr. just before 3:00pm.
Lindsay Thomson says she noticed the man when she was walking on the Mission Greenway Bridge and called 9-1-1.
“Just saw a male face down in the water in the river and his head was under the water so I didn’t think that he was still alive,” she said “but there was another gentleman that ran down just to double check”.
Thomson said it looked like the man had a head injury.
A portion of the Mission Creek Greenway was cornered off as emergency crews removed the man from the water. Paramedics were seen performing CPR on the man while placing him inside an ambulance.
Police say they have identified the man but are not releasing his identify to allow the next of kin to be notified.
The investigation has been handed over to the BC Coroners Service.
