Victim of shooting in Kelowna released from hospital

Kelowna RCMP's investigation into a shooting last night continues.

"Our investigators continue to strongly believe that this was a targeted attack and that the general public is not in any risk," says Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey.

O'Donaghey also says the male victim, who showed up at KGH's emergency room at around 6:00 pm Tuesday, continues to recover from a gunshot wound.

"The injuries sustained by the victim are considered to be non life-threatening in nature, and he continues to recover from those injuries and has since been released from care at the hospital," he says.

O'Donaghey says investigators are still examining an SUV, that was found with bullet holes near the hospital - and are searching through a home in the Sexsmith Road area.

He says police are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious, between the hours of 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm on February 28th near Sexsmith Road and Pinto Road, to call RCMP.
