Work begins on Gellatly walkway to repair flood damage

Work has started to repair flood damage on Gellatly walkway in West Kelowna - it's been closed since June 1st.

During the work, which is expected to be finished by the end of the month, the portion of Gellatly Road - fronting the walkway - will be down to single lane alternating traffic.

The city also anticipates beginning repairs next week on Gellatly Road between Witt Road and Boucherie Road - it's been closed since May 5th after nearby Smith Creek flooded and undermined the slope below the road. Watch for speed limit reductions in the area.

Meanwhile, construction on the McDougall Creek Bridge on Shannon Lake Road is expected to begin in July, when work in the stream is allowed by the Ministry of Environment.

The city also says Powers Creek Bridge on Gellatly Road is now open to single lane alternating traffic.
