Wrestling Invades Kelowna

This Friday, you'll have the opportunity to see grown men body slammed, elbow dropped, and headlocked - all for a good cause.

Invasion Championship Wrestling is hosting their 'Coyote Ugly' event at Rutland Centennial Hall, with all proceeds going towards the Okanagan College's Coyotes basketball program.

ICW co-founder Mike Chisholm says these events have raised $200,000 over five years for various charities.

“We basically have taken the business model of a golf tournament, and wrapped it around with professional wrestling,” says Chisholm. “It’s been very successful; we didn’t know what would happen the first time we did an Invasion show, and we raised $16,000 in one night, and suddenly this fan base was there."

While former WWE wrestler Val Venis was initially scheduled to appear at Friday’s event, but due to scheduling issues, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi – the Rock’s cousin – has been booked in his place.

Doors open at 6:30 Friday evening at Rutland Centennial Hall, and tickets can either be purchased at the door or at invasionchampionshipwrestling.com.
