Oliver turned down by Federal Government in funding request
It doesn’t look like the federal government will be helping the Town of Oliver repair its irrigation canal.
The town had been seeking a $22 million grant for the project....but has been turned down by the feds.
Oliver already has $5 million already committed by the province for the $11.5 million project.
The canal has been running at 70 per cent capacity since a 2016 rockfall...SInce that time...the town has been trying to secure funding to reroute the canal from the rockfall zone at Gallagher Lake.
