Chartier reflects on 1st NHL goal

It will be something Rourke Chartier will never forget.

The 22 year-old scored his first NHL goal Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks.

The San Jose Sharks rookie says the lead up to the goal was like he was in slow motion.

"I got the puck and made a pass to Tomas Hertl who was behind the net. He took it out front. The puck got kicked out front and I just tried to get there incase something popped out. It kind of kicked off the pad to where I could get it. I spun and fired it and the goalie likely didn't know where it was as the d-man was in his way".

Chartier played four seasons with the Kelowna Rockets, scoring 48 in the 2015 season when the team won a WHL championship in 2015.

"Right now I am just trying to get in the lineup every night and working hard and taking it day-by-day. At the same time you need to step back and realize it is what everybody dreams of doing (playing in NHL) and the same time I'm pretty focused right now, so I am not dwelling on it too much," Chartier.

Chartier, a 5th round selection of the Sharks in 2014, played only 28 games in the American Hockey League last season after suffering from a concussion.
