Foote eyes WHL award

The WHL hands out its league awards Wednesday in Red Deer.

Kelowna Rockets captain Cal Foote is up for the defenceman of the year.

While Foote is representing the Western Conference, the Eastern Conference nominee is Moose Jaw's Kale Clague.

Both were teammates for Canada at the most recent world junior hockey championships.

Foote had a career season with 70 points while Clague put up 71 points split between the Brandon Wheat Kings and Moose Jaw Warriors.

The last Kelowna Rockets player to win the top defenceman was Tyson Barrie in 2010.
