GolfBC Championship should be bigger and better
For a third straight year, Gallagher's Canyon Golf Club is preparing to host the GolfBC Championship.
The event, June 14th to the 17th, is expected to be bigger and better than before.
The purse is larger.
Each of the 156 golfers will compete for $200 thousand dollars in prize money, with the winner taking home 36 grand, up 5 thousand dollars from 2017 when Robby Shelton earned a one shot win over Johnny Ruiz.
"These guys are on a rapid ascent to the top to the Web.dot.com and the PGA Tour. We are seeing some great golfers moving through here. This is the tournament to be on if you want to move up".
Tournament Chairman Hugh Vassos says the event contributes in the neighborhood of 2.5 million dollars to the local economy.
"We are looking for people to come out and really enjoy professional golf. It is right in your own backyard, so don't miss it. Come out and see these guys while they are here", Vassos added.
The action starts next Wednesday (June 13th) with a charity long drive competition and the opening ceremonies followed by the first tee times Thursday (June 14th) morning.
A tournament pass is 35 dollars.
