Guard back coaching

A familiar face has joined the Lloydminster Bobcats.

Kelly Guard has been named an assistant coach with the Alberta Junior Hockey League team.

The 34 year-old helped the Kelowna Rockets win a Memorial Cup championship in 2004.

Fourteen years later, Guard still holds the record for the lowest goals against average in Memorial Cup history (0.75).

Guard has spent the last few seasons as a goaltending coach with the Western Hockey League's Prince Albert Raiders.

The Prince Albert resident still owns several franchise records for wins in a season (44), most shutouts in a season (13), in a career (22), best goals against average in a season (1.56) and career (1.73).
