Herringer named Goaltender of the Week

The WHL has named Kelowna Rockets goaltender Michael Herringer as Goaltender of the Week for the week of March 20-26.

The 21-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average, .960 save percentage and one shutout as the Rockets picked up a 2-0 lead over the Kamloops Blazers in their best-of-seven first-round playoff series.

On Friday night, Herringer was perfect, steering aside 15 shots sent his way in a 4-0 victory versus Kamloops.

On Saturday night, Herringer stood on his head, as he made 33 saves on 35 shots in a 3-2 win against the Blazers, and also won first-star honours for his efforts.

Herringer went 33-15-3-0 with a 2.78 GAA, .904 SV% and two shutouts through 58 regular season appearances during the regular season.

He was also named as the WHL's Goaltender of the Week twice already, for the week ending October 23, 2016, and the week ending March 5, 2017.

Herringer and the Rockets have a 2-0 lead over the Blazers as the series shifts to the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, with Game 3 scheduled for Tuesday, and Game 4 on Wednesday.

Puck drop for both is set for 7 p.m.
