Local goalie helps Great Britain qualify

Congratulations to West Kelowna's Jackson Whistle.

The 22 year-old helped Great Britain qualify for the 2019 World Championships next year in Slovakia.

Great Britain finished first in their pool on the weekend punching their ticket to the top group next season, which means they will play against hockey powers like Canada, the US and Russia.

It marks the first time since 1994 that the Brits will send a team into the elite group.

Whistle represented Great Britain internationally after playing the last three seasons with the Belfast Giants.

Whistle helped the Kelowna Rockets to a Western Hockey League championships in 2015.
