Okanagan Rockets get vet back from WHL

The Okanagan Rockets have announced the return of 17-year-old forward Rayman Bassi for the 2017/18 season.

The 17-year-old finished third in team scoring last season, with 49 points in 40 games.

After appearing with the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs as an Affiliate Player, Bassi was signed by the WHL’s Regina Pats this past off-season.

He played in five pre-season games for the Pats this year, and registered a goal.

In a corresponding roster move, the Rockets have released forward Blain Worthing. Worthing had played eight games as an AP with the Rockets last season, and four games (two regular season, two exhibiton) as a regular this year.

In another transaction this week, the Rockets added 16-year-old defenceman Austin Herron. Herron played last season on the Yale Hockey Academy’s Prep squad, and recorded six points and 50 PIMs over 20 games.

To make room on the roster, the Rockets released defenceman Myles Whiteside, who had appeared in the four games this season.

The Rockets are in action this weekend, as they host the Vancouver NW Giants for two games at the Capital News Centre.

Puck drop is set for Saturday at 3 pm, and Sunday at 10 am.
