73's Open Post-Season by Blasting Petrolia

The PJHL playoffs started with two of the top local teams in action, as both Essex and Lakeshore recorded easy wins.

The 73's blasted eighth-seeded Petrolia 7-2 on home ice, as Jack Sanko and Bryce Ryan both scored twice to lead the attack.

Josh Pope-Ferguson, William Stadder and Michael Vieira added the other Essex goals.

Mark McNally and Zach VanEyk scored for the visiting Flyers.

Jax D'hondt had to make only 17 saves to record the win.

In Lakeshore, the Canadiens started their playoff run with a 7-3 victory over Wheatley on Tuesday night.

Lakeshore will be in Petrolia for Game 2 of the series Wednesday night.

Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.

Amherstburg opens its best-of-seven at home at the Libro Centre against the Mooretown Flags at 7 p.m.
