73's Pound Petrolia 7-3

The Essex 73’s started 2018 with a convincing 7-3 win over the visiting Petrolia Flyers.

It was the first game back on the ice for both clubs following the two-week Christmas break, but it didn’t seem to affect the 73’s performance.

Cody Leeming would score a powerplay and shorthanded goal back to back to lift the 73s to the win.

Michael Ruttinger would cap off the Essex offensive barrage scoring midway through the third to make it 7-3.

Petrolia’s Trent Jardine was responsible for the Flyers third goal closing out the second period.

The win lifted the 73’s back into first place in the PJHL’s Stobbs Division just a point above Amherstburg where the team will travel Sunday night to face the Admirals.
