Andreescu Wins, Auger-Aliassime Falters

Canadian Bianca Andreescu advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rogers Cup Thursday, edging world number five Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 in a dramatic, rain-interrupted match on centre court in Toronto.

Andreescu capitalized on her fourth match point when Bertens hit her second straight double fault to end the afternoon tilt.

Andreescu will face Karolina Pliskova in the quarterfinals Friday.
 
At the Rogers Cup event in Montreal, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime's run at his hometown tournament is over.

Sixth seed Karen Khachanov of Russia defeated the Montreal teenager 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 in third-round action at a windy and raucous I-G-A Stadium.

 Auger-Aliassime, who turned 19 Thursday, was undone by 12 double faults and a series of mistakes at key times.
