Angels Tame Tigers in Detroit

The Los Angeles Angels piled up three runs in the third inning as they tamed the Detroit Tigers 5-2 in Major League Baseball action.  

Andrelton Simmons drove in a pair of runs and Griffin Canning pitched into the sixth inning to earn the win.  

Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-4 with an RBI in his season debut.  The Angels ended a two-game slide with the win.  

Daniel Norris threw five innings of three-run ball to take the loss for Detroit.  

Nick Castellanos had an RBI-triple and scored the other run for the Tigers.  They have alternated wins and losses for the past seven games.

Matthew Boyd goes to the mound for the Tigers Wednesday night, while the Angels counter with Tyler Skaggs.

Also of note, the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 on Tuesday. 

Former Tiger Mike Fiers pitched a no hitter as Oakland blanked the Cincinnati Reds 2-0.
