Annual Firefighters Calendar To Benefit The Chasing Hazel Foundation
The 2019 Windsor Firefighters calendar is going to support a growing charity in the region.
The Chasing Hazel Foundation will be the beneficiary of this year's calendar that will feature 14 first responders.
The Foundation strives to educate and raise awareness about how important individuals with Down Syndrome are to the community.
The not-for-profit group was created by Stephanie Seguin and her husband Matt, and is named after their daughter Hazel.
Matt Seguin says "words can't express how grateful we are" for being included in the calendar project.
Stephanie tells CTV Windsor they recently created a developmental program to help build confidence in people with Down Syndrome.
"Kids a lot of the time get speech therapy, but sometimes one on one therapy, it helps, but its also super helpful to have it in social settings."
Matt jokes the project will leave a lasting impression.
"For the next 50 to 100 years we will have a firefighters calendar in our kitchen. So we are pretty excited about that."
The firefighters say they are happy to support the Chasing Hazel Foundation because they feel it's a worthwhile cause.
Ahmad Taam also donated his time last week to take photographs.
"It is definitely an honour. I've seen this around many times, and I think it is a great cause so I am proud to be a part of it."
Last year's firefighters calendar raised $15,000 for the Fight Like Mason Foundation.
The goal this year is $20,000.
Calendars are scheduled to go on sale for $10 starting in October and there will be meet and greets with firefighters across the city.
