AUDIO: Royal Winnipeg Ballet Seeks Dancers In Windsor

Windsor is the place to be for ballet audiences.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is holding auditions in Windsor on Monday as part of its nationwide tour.

Last week, Canada's National Ballet School held auditions in Windsor for its full-time professional ballet program.

Speaking on AM800's Sunday Morning Live, General School Division Principal with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Suzanne Andre says they are looking for that "it" factor.

"For the most part, we are looking for the potential to see if there are students out there that have the artistic and physical potential to work with us how many years depending on their age."

She says they are looking for potential in dancers in grade 5 and older. They're also looking for teachers.

"A ballet dancer is a athlete," she says. "That is the technical part of it but they are also an artist so a dancer has to be able to connect with the audience."

The auditions take place beginning at 9am at the Edmunds Towers School of Dance on Jefferson Blvd.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is well-known across the country and around the world for providing excellence in dance education.
