Heartbreak and excitement at St. Clair College.

Canada's National Ballet School held auditions on Thursday for its full-time professional ballet program, drawing hopefuls from Canada and the Unites States. On Thursday, 24 students from grades 6 to 12 took part.

They were assessed on movement, co-ordination and overall suitability for demands of classical ballet.

11-year-old Lexi Utz is from Ohio and was invited to the school's summer internship.

She says to move on is a a dream come true.

"It was really amazing because I've been wanting to go for the longest time so I was really happy when I got in," says Utz.

She felt the pressure during the audition.

"I mean I was really scared and nervous and I didn't know I was going to get in but I was really excited," says Utz.

Following the internship, some students will be offered a placement in the full time program.

The school is located in Toronto.
