Bicycle Maintenance Classes In Windsor A Smash Hit
If you would like to learn how to keep your bicycle in top condition, Bike Windsor Essex has an answer for you.
The cycling organization has created a series of 3 basic bike maintenance classes called "wrench-up."
They're also partnering with a number of community organizations that help the less fortunate who often rely on a bicycle for transportation.
Executive Director Lori Newton says the courses start with the basics or operations: "you'll come and learn about the parts of the bike, you'll learn to do an ABC quick check, you'll learn to fix a flat and other necessary things just to keep your bike safe and in good working order"
Newton says the courses are being offered free to clients of neighborhood organizations like the Downtown Mission and the CanAm Indian Friendship Centre and for people whose bicycle is their main mode of transportation they don't have a car or for some other reason their bike is their main means of transportation.
She says the courses are off to a positive start with a sellout of 8 in the first one last night, which was mostly attended by women.
The courses are funded through a Trillium grant.
