'Billie's Place' Says Goodbye

After 13 years, it was an emotional goodbye for a west end pub forced to close its doors.

A farewell party was held Wednesday night at 'Billie's Place', but it may not be the end for this Olde Sandwich Town staple.

Owner, Billie Jo Zacher, says plans are in the works for a new location.

She says she's excited for the future.

"I love Sandwich Town. It's got a lot of potential and I have a few offers and as long as my staff go with me we're going to take those kind of offers. We're looking forward to it. We're looking forward to rebuilding wherever it's going to be, wherever our new home is. We're taking this as a stepping stone to something else exciting."

Zacher has this message for her many loyal patrons.

"Thank you. Thank you for coming. Thank you for being my customers and friends and family. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It's been very emotional, all the staff and myself, my son, there's a lot of history here. My mom was here. My mom is no longer with us. So there's a lot of heart in there."

Zacher won't share anything on the new location for 'Billie's Place', but says she doesn't want to leave the Olde Sandwich Town neighbourhood.

Zacher found out Sunday she'd have to close her business due to crumbling brick causing unsafe conditions.

The property owner has since confirmed to Zacher the building will be demolished.
