Bob Probert's Ashes Scattered In Joe Louis Arena Penalty Box (AUDIO)
It was an emotional weekend for the Probert family.
As fans bid farewell to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, some of the late Bob Probert's ashes were scattered in the penalty box.
His widow Dani Probert says it was a spur of the moment decision as she was wearing a locket with Probert's ashes.
"Had no plans whatsoever of sprinkling his ashes anywhere, I just hadn't been able to let that part of him go and it was the emotions and being with my hockey family and sitting next to Cheli," says Dani Probert.
"We went into the penalty box, just Chris, Joey and myself and it was incredibly emotional and it just seems so fitting, it was the perfect time."
Probert died of a heart attack on July 5, 2010 at the age of 45.
He played 474 of his 935 career NHL games for the Detroit Red Wings.
