The body of a man found floating in the Detroit River in east Windsor has been identified.

Police had been asking the public for help in identifying the body after it washed up in the 9200 block of Riverside Dr. on July 22nd wearing a distinct button down shirt and a unique pendant necklace.

Investigators had said they believed it was the same person who was seen swimming in the Peche Island channel the Friday before which prompted an international search effort with the Canadian and U.S. Coast Guard, Windsor Police and help from civilian boaters.

Police say the 21-year old man has ties to the Peel Region.

Foul play is not suspected.
