Building on University Ave. is Safe: Fed Government
The federal government says the building on University Ave. in Windsor is safe, but it was closed as a 'precautionary measure.'
About 300 federal employees, work at the building at 441 University Ave. West in Windsor and had complained about vibrations.
Public Services and Procurement Canada released a statement saying 'two independent engineering assessments confirmed the building is safe to occupy.'
But a study is underway to highlight the results of a full building inspection and will determine if any further steps need to be taken.
Last Thursday, the building was closed and a sign posted on the door indicates the Canada Revenue Agency office is temporarily closed.
The union representing some of the workers supports the closure.
The federal government expects a report to be completed in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Windsor-West New Democrat MP Brian Masse is looking for answers since the building had more than $10-million in renovations recently.
Workers are now working from home or from other federal government buildings.
