Busy Long Weekend for Police

It was a busy long weekend for local police.

OPP as well as police in Chatham-Kent spent the past four days concentrating on drivers who fail to move over for emergency vehicles. 

Among the 160 charges laid by Essex County OPP were 79 speeding charges, nine charges of failing to move over for emergency vehicles, and two distracted driving charges.

In Chatham Kent, 150 Motorists were charged with speeding with eight temporary licence suspensions, three seatbelt infractions, one impaired, one stunt driving, and one distracted driving charge.

On the water, OPP laid four marine offence charges and police in Chatham-Kent issued four offence notices.
