Cabrera Slams Tigers to Victory

Miguel Cabrera smashed a grand slam to help lift the Detroit Tigers to a 9-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Comerica Park.

Cabrera went 3-for-4 with five RBI.  

Cabrera will be limited to designated hitter after an MRI revealed the Tigers' slugger has chronic knee issues.

Ryan Carpenter held the Rays to two runs on seven hits in seven innings to get the win.  Shane Greene earned his 19th MLB save of the season.  

Spencer Turnbull gets the start for Detroit Wednesday while Charlie Morton goes to the mound for Tampa Bay.

Also in the MLB on Tuesday, Toronto's offence ignited behind a pair of homers in the fifth inning as the Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees 4-3.
