Canadian Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking

A major drug bust at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have seized 25.05 kilograms (55lbs) of methamphetamine.

On May 2, a semi-truck entered Canada and was referred for a secondary examination.

During the x-ray exam, CBSA officers found an anomaly that led to a full search of the vehicle where officers found 23 clear wrapped packages that tested positive for methamphetamine.

In addition to the drugs, officers also found two envelopes containing $126,000 USD.

A 42-year-old man from Mississauga is facing several charges including importing a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He will appear in a Sarnia court next week.
