Charges Laid After OPP Cruiser Rear-Ended

One man has now been charged after an SUV plowed into the back of an OPP cruiser on the 401 near Tilbury.

On December 23, 2017, a provincial police officer was parked on the shoulder of the highway providing assistance after a pickup truck ended up in the ditch.

The officer was sitting in the cruiser with the emergency lights activated when it was struck from behind. The officer suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit investigated the incident and cleared the officer of any wrongdoing but recommended charges against the driver of the SUV.

23-year-old Jim Boyuan faces charges of careless driving and failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.
