Chatham Man Pinned By Tractor That Burst Into Flames

A Chatham man is in serious condition in hospital after a small farm tractor flipped on top of him and burst into flames.

Chatham-Kent police say he was trying to remove an old pole from the ground, with chains attached to the tractor, when it turned over. Authorities say that's when gas started to leak out of the tractor and onto the hot engine which ignited a fire.

After being freed from under the machine the man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, then air lifted to a burn unit in Hamilton.

It happened yesterday around 3pm at a property on Grand Ave. E. in Chatham.

Police continue to probe the incident.
