Council Approves Deal with Part-Time Workers in Lakeshore
Striking part-time facility attendants cleared their final hurdle on their way back to work in Lakeshore.
The 21 part-time employees walked off the job on March 5 — they ratified a three year deal Friday night and council followed suit Monday night at a special meeting.
According to a release from the town, the deal includes bereavement leave, vacation pay above the Employment Standards Act and uniforms for the employees.
Workers with IBEW Union Local 636 are expected to be back serving the public within the week.
Mayor Tom Bain says, "the town is looking forward to getting back to business as usual at the Atlas Tube Centre."
