Deal Finalized For Transit Windsor To Provide Bus Service In LaSalle

An agreement has been finalized for Transit Windsor to provide bus service into the Town of LaSalle.

The agreement will see two buses, paid for by LaSalle, run routes through 70% of LaSalle beginning this September.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens hopes this is the start of something bigger for regional transit.

"We want to be a partner with other municipalities with respect to regional transit and kudos to the Town of LaSalle and the mayor and council for stepping up to the plate, working with Transit Windsor and trying to find a way to use the existing system."

Dilkens says residents in LaSalle will benefit from the regional service by having a one seamless system.

Year one will cost the town $750,000 due to start up costs and each year after will cost just over $300,000.

The agreement runs for five years from 2017 to 2021.
