Detroit Grand Prix Weekend Starts
Expect to hear the roar of motors across the Detroit River over the next few days
Some of the practice rounds begin at 7:30am with qualifying for the Super Truck series underway at 10am.
IMSA Sportscar Driver Juan Pablo Montoya is excited to get out on the road track at Belle Isle.
He says he knows the presence of team owner Roger Penske will be right there.
"I think for us, especially in the six car, Roger's always in our pit box — so we hear from him every every couple of minutes if not less." says Montoya.
He says Belle Isle is clearly the place to be this weekend for motor-sport fans.
"I think if you're from Canada or anywhere and you like motor racing, you know you get an event like this, you get so many series together you're lucky," Montoya says. " You're getting two IndyCar races, our race, you're getting a lot done."
The first race takes place Saturday at 10 am with the Super Truck Series Race 1, then the first IndyCar race of the weekend starts at 3:30pm.
