Developer Confident New McDonald's Fits Lakeshore Nicely

The developer of a new McDonald's in Belle River is confident the restaurant will be a nice addition to the community.

Amarjit Singh, a Belle River resident himself, says a number of changes have been made after neighbours had asked for improvements to the noise reduction measures proposed for the site.

"We had serious discussions with the neighbours around the neighbourhood and we worked on that feedback with the members of council and also the staff at the building department," says Singh.  "We came up with a plan to satisfy all the questions. I think the whole neighbourhood will be happy and I think it's great for the Town of Lakeshore."

Council approved the final site plan for the $6-million development earlier this week which also includes a convenience store and car wash.

Singh says there's not much choice for fast food in the town.

"Living in Belle River for almost 10 years, I realized that Belle River is a growing community and there's a need for more business establishments in this area," says Singh.  "So the first thing that came to my mind was that we don't have a quick service restaurant besides Tim Hortons in the whole neighbourhood."

Construction on the project on County Rd. 22 near Willowwood Dr. is expected to begin by mid-August with a goal of having the entire establishment up and running by Christmas.
