UPDATED: Devonshire Mall Sign Coming Down

A popular sign at Windsor's Devonshire Mall is coming down.

Crews were seen Friday morning preparing to take the large sign, seen on Howard Ave. and from the EC Row Expressway, to come down.

A new sign modern will be going up in September.

It is part of a major overhaul taking place at the mall, built in 1970.

The mall has recently had a $70-million overhaul which includes 15 food outlets and a new food court.

"This is actually a little bit residual of the $70-million redevelopment that we completed just at the beginning of this year," says Mall General Manager Chris Savard.  "So the new pylon sign will be installed sometime in September. So there will be two of them, one closer to the southern end of the property and one at that main intersection near Old Navy."

Savard says it will be a modern sign that will include a new electronic reader board.

There are also high ceilings, windows, solar panels on the roof and more modern seating throughout the mall.
