DiPietro Receives Key To Amherstburg
A first for the Town of Amherstburg.
This morning, mayor Aldo DiCarlo handed out the town's first key to the municipality.
The key went to Windsor Spitfires goalie and Amherstburg native Michael DiPietro.
The Vancouver Canuck draft pick was born and raised in Amherstburg and played minor hockey in town.
He says it's a great honour.
"Being from Amherstburg and to be able to get the first key ever handed out by the mayor to the town, is something that I hold dear to me, I cherish, very humbled by it," says DiPietro.
The 18-year-old backed stopped the Spitfires to the team's third Memorial Cup in May.
He'll be at Spits training camp later this month before heading to Canucks training camp in September.
