Donations Coming In For Hiram Walker Statue
Fundraising efforts continue for the Hiram Walker Commemorative statue.
Mayor Drew Dilkens updated the public Friday morning on the $400,000 project.
He says so far $145,000 has been raised.
Dilkens was joined by the statue's sculptor Mark Williams.
Williams says the project is moving along and will be ready for installation next spring.
He says the statue is currently at a foundry.
"They're molding him," says Williams. "He's actually kind of laying down and they're making rubber molds of the entire piece and then they turn the rubber molds into wax pieces and that's what gets invested into bronze."
The bronze statue will be located at the corner of Riverside Drive and Devonshire Road.
The statue itself will be eight feet tall but will stand on a barrel.
