Downtown Farmers Market Set to Return

It's that time of the year again.

The Downtown Windsor Farmers Markets kicks off this Saturday.

Market Co-Chair Sarah Cipkar says more than 30 vendors have signed on -- selling anything from arts and crafts to fresh produce and baked goods along with meats and vegan products.

"We already have over 30 vendors committed to either full season or half season and we also have an expanded seating area where we're actually adding 15 tables and 45 chairs," says Cipkar.

Cipkar says some are returning vendors but there are many new ones.

"Every year we have a good chunk of our returning vendors come back but this year is specifically exciting but we do have a number of new ones," says Cipkar.  "It's going to be a great crowd and we are hoping to add as the market goes on as well."

Cipkar tells AM800 News there is a buzz in the community for this year's market, which will be the biggest yet.

"I have residents who stop me all the time and say that they're really really excited about the market," says Cipkar.  It's kind of one of the crown jewels of the downtown throughout the year because so many people just come and hangout.  It's the only place where you can get your fresh produce in the summer time right downtown."

The market is open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

It's located on Pelissier Street between Wyandotte and Park.

Vendors are also set up on Maiden Lane.

The market will run until October 26th.
