Erie Shores Hospice Celebrates First Year
The $6-million Erie Shores Hospice campus in Leamington is celebrating an anniversary.
The 10 bed facility opened one year ago.
Ross Barnwell is the Executive Director for the Leamington District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
He says the facility is supported by the community.
"We're fortunate at the foundation because when people are appreciative of the service they received, they show up at our office and want to make donations and they tell us about how important that was to them and the families in this community have been extremely receptive both to the idea of hospice, but also to the services that they've received."
Barnwell says many family have used the hospice campus in Leamington.
"We had our official opening on April 6 and about a week later the first patient went in with their families and over that period of time almost 150 folks have gone through that facility and again, the families have just been so amazed by how wonderful that service is."
The campus is located on Talbot Street West.
