Essex Launches Facade Improvement Grant
The Town of Essex has launched a new facade improvement grant.
Eligible business owners can apply for a "mini-grant" of up to $2,000 to make visual improvements from things like signage, murals, architectural features, entrances, lighting and awnings.
Business owners must provide two quotes for the work.
The town has set aside $20,000 for the program.
Town Assistant Planner Rita Jabbour says for some business owners, the smaller grant is better for them. "We understand that people have minor rehabilitation work that they want to undertake but they don't want or need the bigger grant at the moment."
The mini-grant is in addition to another Community Improvement Plan refurbishment program that covers up to $12,000 for bigger improvement costs.
