Fantastic Fathers Taking Over The WFCU Centre
Fantastic Father's is taking over the WFCU Centre Saturday.
It's the second time around for the free Father's Day event organized by Liuna 625 and the Fantastic Fathers Community Group.
Food, fun, and give always are on tap for an event organizer Steve Brown says exceeded his wildest expectations last year.
Brown told AM800 News organizers wanted to create an event for dad's to spend quality time with their families.
"Last year we were expecting 500 to 800 people and we got around 2000, that showed us that there is a community need for a family event on Father's Day," says Brown. "There's brunches and things like that out there, but there isn't really anything for the kids to get out and have a fun afternoon and be home for dinner and be able to be home for breakfast as well."
This years event will be bigger and better according to Brown.
"Border City Wrestling is doing live matches, Border City Brawlers roller derby girls are putting on an exhibition match. Seminars on skipping, dance, yoga, and karate," Brown says. "We have a full ice rink dedicated to vendors and another full ice rink dedicated to bouncy castles, an obstacle course and stuff like that."
He says there's something for every age group.
"We have a lot of things going on, too many to list but it's going to be a great day for families, for kids of all ages. Lots of fun from toddler to high school aged kids," says Brown.
Doors open at 11am Saturday at the WFCU Centre.
Festivities wrap up at 3pm.
