Female Police Officer Claims Gender Bias Discrimination Is Alive And Well
A female Windsor police officer alleging she was discriminated against claims 'gender bias discrimination is alive and well at the Windsor Police Service.'
Staff Sergeant Christine Bissonnette made the comment at a Human Rights Tribunal hearing in Windsor Thursday.
She claims she was overlooked for a promotion several times including a promotion to be an inspector in 2015 because she's a woman.
Bissonnette is self-represented which means she doesn't have a lawyer and she spent the morning submitting exhibits such as emails and documents which she claims supports her case.
The lawyer for the Windsor Police Service has objected several times saying the exhibits are hearsay.
Several officers are slated to testify at the hearing which will continue next week on September 13.
