Fight Like Mason Blood Drive Sees Strong Support
The "Fight Like Mason" blood drive continues this morning.
The turnout on Friday left the Bacon-Macri family almost speechless. Nearly 100 people attended with 65 units donated.
"I was expecting it to be full but not to this extent, we're just, it's amazing," says Chantelle Bacon, Mason's mom.
Mason died of cancer and the foundation the followed is helping other families dealing with childhood cancer.
"Just seeing Mason having to go through blood products after blood products when he was going through treatment and now to know we're able to help other families and they don't have to worry about not having enough blood products," says Bacon.
Mason's father Iain Macri says the family is overwhelmed with the response.
"Everyone who's come through the doors today in support of our foundation and using Mason as someone to look at for inspiration is amazing," says Macri.
The blood drive continues today from until noon at the Canadian Blood Services clinic on Grand Marais Rd.
