Finance Minister Hints Hwy. 3 Work Could be in Provincial Budget

Ontario Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek was tight lipped on Highway 3 Friday in Leamington, but he hinted that an election promise might move forward.

Doug Ford made a verbal commitment to expand the highway between Leamington and Essex while on a campaign stop in Colchester last year. Last week the province announced it is investing $1.3-billion in 123 highway projects across the province and widening Highway 3 to four lanes wasn't one of them.

When asked whether the Ontario PC's planned on keeping their promise Yurek became coy with reporters.

"We have been reviewing every and all projects that have been on the table for the last nine months and we do have a budget coming out April 11, so I'll just say stay tuned for that," he says.

Yurek was in Leamington to take a look at the new $40-million Pelee Islander II.
