Both AM800 and CTV News walked away from the Radio Television Digital News Association Central Region Awards with some new hardware.
The awards— held in Toronto Saturday — recognize individual and newsroom excellence in the field of digital and broadcast journalism.
Coverage of what's been called the largest flooding event to ever hit Windsor-Essex landed the AM800 News team the Byron MacGregor Award for Best Newscast.
Days of relentless rain shut-down streets, ruined homes, and ground the city to a halt in August of 2017. More than $124-million damage was reported throughout Windsor-Essex and 4,000-tons of garbage was collected in the aftermath.
Proud to accept the Best Newscast Central Region award for @AM800News for its flood coverage next to @RichGartonCTV who also is "award winning" for his feature story about Hunter's journey on @CTVWindsor #GreatTeams #cklw @am800cklw pic.twitter.com/JCcbI89kDl

Rich Garton's short-feature on toddler Hunter Gaudette garnered him the Dave Rogers Award for Excellence — Gaudette battled back from an intense surgery to take his first steps in 2017.
