Free Transit Rides In LaSalle
The Town of LaSalle is celebrating the first anniversary of transit service in the municipality.
Mayor Ken Antaya is calling Year One a success story and is pleased with the response for the community.
The service was launched after Labour Day in September 2017 and has since provided roughly 3,000 rides per month.
To mark the milestone, fares this weekend will be free.
Antaya says the transit service will also be showcased at an event.
"We have also a health and wellness fair on Saturday and we're going to have the bus there and we're going to give tours of the bus and let people know how the accessibility is that you can transport bicycles and we'll have free giveaways there as well," he says.
The mayor says the town also continues to promote the service to the public.
"We want them to know that there is an alternative method of transportation throughout the municipality and it's a reliable one and it's working out very well," says Antaya.
Transit Windsor operates the service for LaSalle which costs the town $400,000 a year, over a five year period.
