Fundraiser Planned To Help Children Of Single Windsor Mom Who Died In A Crash
A fundraiser has been organized to help two children of a single mother who died in a crash.
The Cindy Harrison Benefit is scheduled for December 18 at the Fogolar Furlan Club.
The fundraiser has been co-organized by Kayla Mummery who worked with Harrison at Extendicare in Tecumseh.
The 39-year-old Harrison died in a two-vehicle crash on McHugh St. in east Windsor in an alleged drinking and driving crash.
Mummery says it will be a tough Christmas for the kids, who are 4 and 18 years old, and they wanted to do something to help.
"We also have collected amongst staff at Extendicare in Tecumseh money towards Christmas presents for the kids because we worked with Cindy all the time so we knew exactly what she wanted to buy the kids," says Mummery.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be deposited in the children's trust funds.
Mummery says Harrison was loved and very giving to others.
The benefit takes place form 5pm to 10pm. The pasta dinner is at 6pm and tickets are $25 at the door and $20 in advance.
Jeffrey Wilson, 46, of Tecumseh is charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol causing death and exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol causing bodily harm.
