GECDSB Buys Land For New Prince Andrew School
The public school board in Windsor-Essex is buying more than 6 acres of land in LaSalle for a new Prince Andrew Public School.
In a news release, the Greater Essex County District School Board announced the finalization of a deal with the Town of LaSalle to buy a 6.26 acre property east of Judy Recker Crescent.
A new street will be built off Laurier Parkway to create an entrance to the new school. The new building is set to be built to a capacity of 423 students.
“This is an outstanding location for us,” says Erin Kelly, director of education. “It’s centrally located in the school’s catchment area and it’s close to the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex and Sandwich Secondary School.”
The Ministry of Education has approved $9.18-million in funding for the project.
The current Prince Andrew Public School is 2.6-kilometres from the new property.
