Gignac Gone From Windsor Police Services Board
Changes are coming to the Windsor Police Service Board of Directors.
Councillor Joanne Gignac will no longer be sitting on the board.
She will be replaced by councillor Rino Bortolin.
Gignac has sat on the board since 2011 and wanted to continue but city council went in a different direction for its board and committee appointments.
"I was first appointed to the Windsor police board in 2011 but it's part of the course of the different committees that council does serve on," says Gignac. "It was a privilege and it certainly was a learning experience."
She says she has witnessed a number of changes during her time with the board.
"I've had the privilege of going through the search for the current police chief and the deputy chiefs," says Gignac. "Participated in a number of the contractual agreements and I think you're right there has been a dramatic change here and that's owing to a very strong administrative team."
Gignac says she put her name forward to remain on the board.
"Committees of council are all decided around the council table and so I'll be up front, I put my name back on the table to continue my service here at the police service board, the will of council was to have somebody else represent," says Gignac.
Gignac provided some advice to incoming board member Rino Bortolin saying, "Get prepared to interact with those around the table and read through your police services act."
She participated in her last board meeting on Friday.
