Greyhounds Beat Up On Spitfires In The Soo

Windsor managed to clinch a playoff birth despite a 5-2 drumming from the first place Greyhounds Sunday

The first place Greyhounds peppered Windsor goalie Brock Baier, out-shooting the Spitfires 44-14.

Luke Boka's 15th goal of the season put Windsor on-top 1-0 midway through the first, but that would be the lone highlight of the game for the Spitfires.

Sault Ste. Marie scored five unanswered goals, sparked by back-to-back goals from Rasmus Sandin.

Lev Starikov brought Windsor back within three to start the third, but Matthew Villalta shut the door for the Greyhounds for a 5-2 finish.

Windsor sits in seventh place in the OHL's Western Conference with 63-points — one point up on Saginaw — the Spirit faceoff against the Sudbury Wolves at 5:30pm Sunday.

The Spitfires play a rubber-match against the Greyhounds at the WFCU Thursday, puck drops at 7:05pm.
